True education empowers us to live our lives fully by bringing in awareness of all aspects of our life – spiritual, material, and emotional.  Creative provides a space for holistic education with a spiritual foundation, recognizing the growth of human consciousness - guiding us towards our own inner balance and harmony.  Time spent at Creative includes time for connecting with all aspects of ourselves - physical, spiritual and emotional.  We will naturally include time for connecting with nature and each other.   Regular self work is the basis for lasting health and essential for us to function at our highest creative and cognitive abilities.  We will integrate tools from spiritual sciences to allow us to blossom to our highest potential. 
 

We also believe that parents and teachers/facilitators need to constantly increase their own self understanding to be able to effectively support our children. Adults need to be aware and conscious of their own journeys to be able to effectively assist a child. Our children learn best through example.  We strongly encourage adults at Creative to explore self work and consciously learn about different parenting and teaching approaches. We will facilitate opportunities for learning and growth for adults as well as children.

 
Creative Learning that Explores a Child’s Fullest Potential

At Creative learning will be experiential, hands on and accommodate various learning styles enabling every child to develop to her innate and fullest potential.  We will use classroom routines which will help kids stay focused, take responsibility of choices, stay connected to learning, and have options for taking steps when unable to do so.  Children’s interests, imagination, and performance will influence the direction of pursuit.  We will balance between choice time and mandatory lesson time for the students.  In this sense the curriculum will be both child and adult directed – keeping a balance in mind.

 
Creative Learning Methodologies

All of the traditional academic subjects will be explored through flexible and expansive processes that greatly contribute to the overall development of the child and all involved.  We will emphasize inter-connected inquiry and project based learning.  Children will be encouraged to experience the beauty of languages by reading, writing, and sharing their understandings, feelings and work.  Mathematics and Science will be explored as something that exists in nature - dynamic, subjective, creative, and natural.  Social Studies will be approached in a manner exploring various perspectives in history civics and geography.  Spiritual Sciences will be explored through storytelling and activities.  We will make a conscious attempt to integrate the learning from India’s vast and rich heritage through storytelling, field trips and learning activities.

 
A Well Rounded Curriculum

Sports, Yoga / Martial Arts and Games that stimulate excellence, coordination, confidence and foster team work will be integrated at Creative to help children develop a healthy sense of physical fitness.  Arts, Crafts, Dance, Music, Theater, and Puppetry will be included in the learning processes.  Everyone will be involved in working with the hands for productive activities – gardening including growing for consumption, cooking, cleaning and maintaining the environment and body.  Specialists from various areas will be regularly invited to give workshops and talks.  We will greatly encourage children to spend time immersed learning alongside adults who are passionate about teaching-learning.

 
School as a Community

The school itself is a community – a sangha of children and adults – staff, teachers and parents.  We all need to work together to evolve and grow.  We can learn a lot as a community experiencing many things together. As conflicts arise – natural when we all work together, we will integrate ways of resolving conflict and working together. Community involvement and connections will be emphasized.  Sustainable living and exploring our role with nature and society will be part of all our activities. 
                                                                                                                                                                                          
Sustainable Environment
The center believes in simply modeling sustainability to the best of our abilities. As a community, we are in an earth friendly space. We will be practicing environmentally friendly living with mud block construction, rain water harvesting, recycled waste, composting, gardening and other experiments that can happen within an urban framework.  As a school, learning about conservation happens both by establishing a deeper connection with the earth through gardening and other activities as practical experiments leading to better living.
